The Global Nutrition Transition: Improving Nutrient Analysis and Monitoring of Metabolic Markers
(Sponsored Satellite Program)

Nutrient Analysis is basic to human nutrition research and practice. Nutrient databases must aim to create detailed knowledge of the chemical composition of foods at a level of precision comparable to the other aspects of precision nutrition, including anthropometry, genetics, epigenetics, and metabolomics. It has become clear that there is incomplete knowledge of the nutrient composition of foods. including incomplete and outdated information. Topics to be discussed in this symposium include the challenges of nutrient analysis and biomarkers, advances in diet quality through nutrient profiling, a novel method of assessing protein quality, and the challenges of phytonutrient data base development. Efforts to enhance the scope of data within nutrient data sets and to enhance methods of collecting and analyzing nutrient data are critical to the quality of nutrition science research in the decades ahead as precision nutrition is developed further to provide personalized nutrition recommendations.
